History of the "Goldener Anker" (1373 - 1631)Todays property of the "Goldener Anker" (Markt 6) was part of Markt 5 the location of the former Gothic city hall which was first mentioned in 1373. In 1561-65 it was degraded to build an early mediaeval court of a bailiwick with a protective tower which foundation walls still can be seen in our Wine Cellar today. The former owner was mayor Andreas Schulze who reconstructed new buildings on todays property of Markt 5 and 6. In 1577 the house on the market was again partly reconstructed by the city judge Hans Enwirth. It became the right to brew about 10 types of beer. The Building you can see today is based on the building as it has been in 16th century. In some parts it's even older based on mayor Hans Unruhes house. In 1623 the appointee and merchant Hans Ganzlande bought the house and concealed hard cash in the cellar during Thirty Years' War. In 1631 the house in Nonnenstrasse was built. Therefore the estate had to be united in 1620. That time it has been aside a medieval court.
